Learn Some Easy Guitar Songs

Perhaps you have started learning the guitar and can strum the main chords. Can you play G, C, and D?  If so, then you are ready now to play songs from some great artist spanning the last 40 years, who have created quite a healthy lifestyle from of these three chords.

If you have recently started learning how to play the guitar learning a simple song is the best way to increase your confidence and feel you are making headway. The song “A Horse With No Name” is an time-honored favorite for new guitarists because it is said to be the absolute easiest song to play.

All you need to play to perform this song is chords E minor and a variation of D. There are four beats per measure (known as 4/4 time) with only one chord change after every measure.

You will hold down two strings within the 2nd fret, the E minor is your fingers on the 4th and 5th strings, the D will have your fingers on the 6th and 3rd strings.

All you do now is strum the guitar, switch to the other chord on the 4rth beat, and repeat.  Now, you’re playing a classic that tipped the charts for the band “America”!

Lots of famous music like this song is comprised of nothing more than two or three easy-to-play chords. ‘Lay Lady Lay’ is another easy song to learn by Bob Dylan.

The song, “Comfortably Numb,” by Pink Floyd is another one that’s among the most simple to learn with it’s 5 chords.

And White Stripe’s “Seven Nation Amy” is more music that you’ll be playing in no time. Simply knowing how to play the main chords (CAGED) means you are ready to learn some simple songs.

Then there is “Hey There Delilah” performed by Plain White T’s.  It’s just another nice song with a very easily learn-able arrangement of chords.  Have fun!
