“Entertaining Inspirations by Andrea Correale: Valentine’s Day Tips”

Hi! I’m Andrea Correale, owner and president of Elegant Affairs.  I asked my team at Elegant Affairs to brainstorm and come up with romantic ideas to make Valentine’s Day extra special.  I’m all about making moments memorable and inspiring people. This is what we came up with.

Wake up a little earlier and set the breakfast table in a festive way.  Cover the table with a red tablecloth with crisp white linen naps, white doilies and of course a beautiful bouquet of red or white flowers in the middle of the table. Make your mate his or her favorite breakfast and place the first heartfelt card of the Day at their place setting.

As your mate leaves to go to work, let him or her find a single red rose on the seat in their car, with a romantic invite for dinner for two at home that evening. You may also send an invite via email(e-vite) along with a delivery of beautiful red roses or chocolate.

As far as the menu goes, you have a few choices: prepare your mate’s favorite meal or you can spice it up a bit and serve an aphrodisiac menu. Interestingly enough there are many foods that are considered part of this genre that one wouldn’t expect like: almonds, arugula, carrots, figs, garlic and avocado just to name a few. You can prepare a meal using many or only some of these ingredients. Create a menu card placing those ingredients in italics and then discuss the history behind these ingredients and what makes it an aphrodisiac. You may go the “gourmetsleuth” online to learn about the history and get a full list of various aphrodisiac foods.

Create an atmosphere that is out of the box. Perhaps set up a small table for two in a different room like the den, next to a roaring fire or outside by the pool which will be filled with tons of floating candles. Where ever it is just make sure it isn’t the ordinary place where you dine on a normal basis. Make sure you dim the lights where ever you are, and have plenty of lit candles to create the mood.

Spice things up by downloading a few hours of romantic tunes that should be playing throughout the evening. Don’t just think American there are some very dreamy French, Italian, and Spanish sound tracks out there that will absolutely set the mood and allow you and your mate to feel like you are in a romantic spot away from home.

Last but not least, rent your favorite contemporary or classic romance movie and curl up on the couch and watch it as you have dessert and coffee.
