“I also clothed you with embroidered cloth and put sandals of porpoise skin on your feet; and I wrapped you with fine linen and covered you with silk.
Really, I don’t know, but it sounds like it was just customary to use it in sandal making. If shark skin can be used to make clothing, and whale skin for a multitude of things we humans use, it does stand to reason that porpoise skin could and was also used in some way. I guess we found out what way. Sounds like it was a luxury item.
