Proper Choice of Bridesmaid Dress Attire

Assess Body Types

Colors

Wearing black covers up most flaws and slims a girl, making her more comfortable with how she looks.   Bright or light colors show most things that a dark color would normally hide.  Though color can reveal a lot, cut and style also make a difference.

Fabric

Certain fabrics are unforgiving no matter what the body size.  Stay away from spandex, satin, and fitted silk dresses.  A light polyester cotton blend, chiffon, or rayon blend would be better choices. They provide more room for stretch without squeezing and showing off the features you’d rather keep hidden.

Sleeves

Consider what a girl’s arms would look like in a sleeveless dress.  Some women’s are would not be flattered by strapless or sleeveless dresses.  Take this into consideration when looking at dress styles.  offering a wrap or shawl would be a good thing to offer if some of your bridesmaids are uncomfortable going sleeves but you want it anyway.

Accessories

Adding shawl, belts, gloves, and bolero jackets will change the look of a dress and bring unity to the style.  A belt can define a waistline, while choosing a wide ribbon can hide belly bulk or show of small waistlines.   Wearing a bolero jacket can hide unsightly arm flabbiness while also adding style.

Fitting Style

Bridesmaids don’t need to wear the exact same dress.  It is quite common for the bride to choose different dresses of a specific color but allow each girl to choose the style that fits them best.  All dresses will be similar and coordinated but length, form, and neckline may be different.
