How To Show Off Your Masterpieces Perfectly!

I’m going to give you some guidelines from interior designers for displaying art, but remember that rules are made to be broken – adapt them or make up your own rules if these don’t work for you. The point of having art is to view it, appreciate it and perhaps even be moved by it. Avoid using your furnishings as the basis for your artwork selection. Pick one or two main colors from your artwork and then purchase throw pillows to match; add a bowl of fruit in a corresponding color. When you display your artwork, it should be placed on the display surface where the eye can see it easily. The midpoint used in galleries and museums is roughly five feet above the floor. To show the artwork’s true colors, experts prefer to use halogen bulbs; they cast a pure light on the art. Always use the appropriate hooks for your art.  Picture hooks, 2 per piece, and wires are best. To get a closer look on picture to painting visit this site.

A trendy way od displaying art is to lean it against your wall on the floor, or lean it on a shelf or use suspension wires to hang it from your wall. Large, framed works of art are the best for that method of display. In the meantime, your best way to show off your artwork is with white mats. For a touch of color you can double mat the artwork.  Place a colored mat behind the white one with just a sliver of color showing at the edge.

Balance is the important element to consider when placing your artwork in groups. When grouping together different sized pieces, you must line up the center of each piece, not any of the outside edges. To see if they are grouped properly, first position the pieces on the floor or make a drawing of the grouping on paper. The spacing between the frames is a very important part of the display. After you have your artwork pieced together, then you should think about how far apart you are going to place each piece from one another. If you are congregating paintings or same-size copies, specialists recommend setting aside half an inch between every frame in order to prevent a crowded look from coming of it. When you are clustering photos or prints that are of the same size, experiment by drawing the group of pictures on a piece of paper or by resting those pieces on the floor before you mount them. To add interest to the arrangement, consider using different shapes and sizes of frames. Most art, especially contemporary art, looks fantastic in plain frames that will not detract from the artwork itself. Impressionistic and traditional paintings would be the concession, as they usually look better in fancier frames.

If you need to enlarge the size of your artwork, framing it with a larger mat can easily create more sizable dimensions. The walls should be a neutral white or off white to best showcase the art. When you decide to redecorate, pick artwork in the beginning of the process. Use this as your inspiration for making color and texture choices. Deciding on the art for your room can be a high priced and maddening experience. This is why so many designers say that you should focus on art that you can make an emotional connection with. For instance, it can be art from your relatives or acquaintances or art that you discovered in your travels. The possibilities are virtually endless and styles do not have to match: a Russian watercolor can share the same wall as a painting from Guatemala, while a carved mask from Indonesia hangs above the doorway and the coffee table displays a custom handmade book next to an intricately carved golden box with silver letters. Some collectors try to find some type of art that they like on each trip they take.

Consider using various types of frames to add an extra punch to the room. You want to call attention to your art pieces, not the frame around them. When trying to decide if a piece of art will work in your room, you may be able to find a gallery that will let you pay a deposit and try the piece out. To help you find the right art for your home, some galleries will even let you take up to twenty works of art at a time.

Jan Berry and Dean Torrence rode a wave of popularity in the early ’60s that earned the So-Cal duo more than a dozen Top 40 hits, including the #1 smash “Surf City.” The group’s good fortune came to a tragic halt in 1966 when Berry suffered debilitating injuries in a car accident near Dead Man’s Curve, a treacherous road that, ironically, was the subject of one of the group’s earlier hits. As he b…
