Flying Geese

Flying Geese
why are 1000′s of Canada geese flying the wrong way here?

i live on the shore of lake huron and flocks of geese in the hundreds are flying over my home everyday still today and they are not headed south but north what is going on

Lake Huron is a major stopover for Migratory waterfowl. Most of your geese have been traveling for a thousand miles or so. So, they Stop at Lake Huron to rest, feed and gather into larger flocks. Geese use larger flocks to reduce wind resistance while traveling. The lead goose will drop back to the back of the flock and the next goose takes the lead, this way no one has to bear all of the wind while flying.

Your geese are moving between a roost (the lake) and a feeding area (most likely an agricultural field, i.e. corn or wheat). They will eventually move out of the area when their food supply is depleted or when the lake freezes over.
