Women’s clothing — What do you call the old-fashioned fine netting covering the face with some hats…?

Like widows or Catholic women wore to church?

As far as I know, they’re simply called “veils.” I remember they were in fashion in the 50s (my grandmother had a couple), and she was in her 50s at time. My mom would have been considered too young to wear one (she would have been in her 20s). I didn’t go to a Catholic church, so I didn’t associate them with religious attire; I do know that some women wore a far more concealing veil to church in that era for Catholic services (my best fried is Catholic). I believe Catholic churches of the era would have expected women to have their heads covered, thus the more concealing type; the veils I remember on hats in the 50s and 60s were purely decorative.
