Flat White Cotton Sheets

For many people, the flat white cotton sheet is the ideal cover for beds. It is true that the sheets are available in many stores, but buying requires a bit of scrutiny.

Types of Cotton

Not all cotton is the same. The type used for the sheets will determine the quality of the sheets. The best is Egyptian cotton. It is the softest cotton material that van be used today. It is very yielding and durable.

Supima cotton consists of long fibers that make it resistant to wear and tear. Combed cotton on the other hand, is made up of extra fine cotton. It is distinguished by the lustrous appearance.

Flat white cotton sheets can also be made from cashmere wool and cotton. Cotton flannel blends the two materials to produce a warm yet soft sheet. This makes it ideal for those cold wintery days and nights.

Sizes and Dimensions

You must choose the right size. Otherwise, it won’t fit on your bed and look out of sorts. The following are the standard sizes for flat sheets.

Twin: 66 x 96 inches (or 167 x 243 cm); x-long twin: 66 x 102 inches (or 167 x 259 cm); full: 81 x 96 inches (or 205 x 243 cm); queen: 90 x 102 inches (or 228 x 259 cm) and king 108 x 102 inches (or 274 x 259 cm). This is applicable for the standard king and California king sheets.

The sizes for fitted sheets are different. They are California king: 72 x 84 inches (or 182 x 213 cm); king: 76 x 80 inches (or 198 x 203 cm), queen: 60 x 80 inches (or 153 x 203 cm), full: 54 x 75 inches (137 x 190 cm), x-long twin: 39 x 80 inches (99 x 203 cm) and twin: 39 x 75 inches (or 99 x 190 cm).
