Describe the struggle between the French and the English during the 18th century?

Describe the struggle between the French and the English during the 18th century. Give reasons for the conflict, how was it resolved, etc.

The series of wars was caused by several different reasons, but fighting in North America revolved around control of land in North America and elsewhere in the world. Both the British and the French claimed the land west of the 13 colonies. They had numerous allies among the Indians found there. The French and its allies would attack the colonies. The colonists would defend themselves. Usually the French would be defeated and a treaty would be worked out.

The overal conflict is usually broken down into smaller wars. TO get a deeper understanding (Hey, I’m not doing all your homework), you should research the following Wars:

The War of the League of Augsburg (King William’s War)
The War of Spanish Succession (Queen Anne’s War)
The War of Austrian Succession (King George’s War/War of Jenkins Ear)
The 7 Years War (French and Indian War)

Note that the names I gave are what Europeans call these wars. Their American names are in parenthesis.
