Can Mold be removed from an antique China and Crystal?

I was cleaning out my mom’s storage unit and discovered that water had gotten into her storage unit and all of her antique fine china and crystal, passed down from my great grandparents were covered in mold. Can that be saved?

The mold won’t damage the crystal and more likely not the china either, though porcelain is more porous than glass so some may, albeit unlikely, be absorbed. I would be included to rinse (wearing gloves and, as the above person made the good suggestion of, a mask) the items and then soak them in hot water with baking soda and a slight amount of alcohol in. Very, very gently use the water to clean the crystal and porcelain, keeping in mind that the baking soda is an abrasive so don’t rub any hand painted (or printed) sections of the porcelain. Rinse well.
