Antique Coverlet

Antique Coverlet( Comfortor) from civil war?
My grandmother has a Coverlet that has been in the family for more than 150 years, One of my Great Grandmothers made it. When the Coverlet was passed down to my Grandma It had some brown spots.. From being older. The other day I was over there and she pulled it out, it was tan! Its soppused to be all white, with no brown spots. so My grandma wants to clean it before she gives it too me. How do we clean it so there is no brown spots and it is no longer tan. We want to clean it so it’s white.. How do we clean it without ruining the coverlet?
Don’t try to clean it. It is too fragile.
